Meet Leylah
Leylah Fernandez is a Canadian professional tennis player with a career-high ranking of #13. At just 20 years old, she’s won a WTA title at the 2021 Monterrey Open and finished runner-up at the 2021 U.S. Open, defeating three of the top five seeded players.
Leylah is from Montreal, and speaks English, French and Spanish. Her father, Jorge, an Ecuadorian-Canadian, is a former association football player and Leylah’s coach, and her mother Irene is Filipino-Canadian. Leylah’s younger sister, Bianca Jolie, is a Freshman at UCLA and plays for the Bruins – the sisters have played doubles together in the past. Owing to her strong family values and work ethic, she serves as a role model to other young girls and athletes by encouraging them to follow their dreams.
